3ème album déjà pour Ladytron, quatuor de Sheffield, le premier pour une major.
Leur précédent disque avait été malmené par la presse d'ici qui leur reprochait de piller Human League et consors mais les amateurs d'electroclash et de pop moderne attendent ce nouvel opus, tout comme le prochain Goldfrapp, avec une impatience non feinte.
Ceux qui ont dansé inlassablement sur leur précédents tubes ("Playgirl", "Seventeen" ) ne seront pas dépaysés, et c'est peut être le grand public qui va les propulser en haut des charts avec des singles réussis ("Sugar" et "Destroy everything you touch"), toujours dans une veine glaciale, avec un accent mis sur les guitares et un son plus ample, plus agressif aussi.
Bon il y a bien quelques ficelles un peu trop voyantes et quelques titres andecdotiques, les chansons sont là et le plaisir aussi.
Ladytron "Weekend"
"Witching hour" is the third album from Sheffield's Ladytron, the first for a major label and fortunately it isn't a bad thing cos they might crash the mainstream charts whithout changing too much their style.
There's again some catchy tunes like the singles "Sugar" and "Destroy everything you touch", some weaker tracks, much more guitars than their previous works.
Not a masterpiece but another enjoyable record for those who like dancing in the dark.

Good work. I really like this song. I'm not that keen on 'Destroy', but I love 'Sugar' and this one. I'll make up my mind when I hear the rest of the album, but I think this new direction suits them. I think if they'd stayed truer to their old sound it would have gotten very tired very soon, and was already starting to happen on Light & Magic. I like them showing off their talent for power pop melodies!
Hello. I wasn't impressed at first but now I think 'Destroy' has a massive potential, I'll try it at my next party to verify.
After more few listenings I reckon that this new lp is better than 'Light & magic', I wonder how it will be received by fans and critics.
